    Degree and career options

When mapping out your career in medicine, it’s important that you are considering the full breadth of possibilities available with an MD.

Be sure to consider dual degree programs, or programs that allow you to earn two degrees simultaneously. SGU offers two dual degree programs: the Doctor of Medicine (MD)/Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Medicine (MD)/Master in Public Health (MPH).

Having dual degrees can open more doors in careers related to disease prevention, health education, research, implementation science, policymaking, and more. Browse these resources to hear from SGU grads who earned dual degrees:

    Career changers

For career changers, paving your path to an MD may look a bit different. For some, they may be going from one career in medicine to another. For others, the change may be substantial coming from an entirely different industry. Regardless, it is certainly still possible to earn your MD. Look through these resources—you might be surprised by what can be achieved!
